Dublin 8 needs a new secondary school

Dublin 8 is radically underserved when it comes to secondary schools. Recent research from Maynooth University found a deficit of 780 places in the area, meaning our teenagers have an average commute to school that is longer than the average national commute for adults.

By the community, for the community

As parents/guardians of children attending primary school in Dublin 8, we see the urgent need for a new secondary school in the area. We're organising to:

  • understand where students from the area go to school now
  • get a clear picture of the needs and preferences of local families
  • assess if a named site on the South Circular Road in Kilmainham would be a suitable location

Eventually, we hope to secure agreement for a new school and see it built and opened, so more of our teenagers can study and thrive close to home.
